ANTI Ordinary protective headwear combines the comfort of a beanie with the safety of a helmet.
ANTI Ordinary is changing the way sports people and thrill seekers protect their heads during adrenaline-filled activities. Merging the protective barriers of a helmet with the comfort and flexibility of a knitted beanie, ANTI Ordinary is streamlining head protection for skiers, snowboarders and winter adventurers. Founders Rob Joseph and Brodie Robinson realised many alpine athletes found helmets cumbersome and clunky and wore beanies instead, leaving their heads exposed. They set about developing a beanie as safe as a helmet and with a dynamic design to fit every sized and shaped head.
The company’s patented technology employs a unique layering system using non-Newtonian materials housed within a washable, knitted beanie cover to create a world-first soft and safe helmet. ANTI Ordinary helmets are conforming, foldable, form-fitting and, above all, comfortable. Utilising cutting-edge technology and already disrupting the sports protection industry, ANTI Ordinary is also investigating other applications for its revolutionary material, beyond just snow sports helmets.
ANTI Ordinary is nearing the end of a comprehensive research and development phase, is spot-testing the helmet in Japan and New Zealand and is awaiting confirmation it will receive alpine helmet safety certification to EN1077 and ASTM F2040 standards. Commercial production is scheduled to begin by the end of 2019 with more than 1100 pre-orders already received.
“Nobody really likes wearing helmets on ski slopes … most people would prefer to wear a beanie. So, instead of trying to make helmets incrementally more comfortable, we decided to make a beanie that's certifiably safe.” – ANTI Ordinary founders Rob Joseph and Brodie Robinson
