I spend the vast majority of my time helping creative people of all walks of life to refine and build their vision, without losing their desire to create.

Peter Laurie is a highly active participant in the local startup ecosystem as a director at boutique software development firm Junta, mentor-in-residence at River City Labs, entrepreneur-in-residence at iLab and QUT Creative Enterprise Australia’s (CEA) Collider Accelerator Program and mission lead at Startup Catalyst. He brings deep technical domain knowledge and strong business theory and practice to creative companies across all industries while maintaining empathy for the creative process.

An electrical engineer by trade, Peter realised the potential of the internet and switched focus, working as a software developer since 1996. He pursues new ventures to take advantage of the opportunities that technology brings, completing an MBA to gain greater understanding of the business process. He now applies his deep tech background and new business knowledge to the startup ecosystem. Since 2017, Peter has been an entrepreneur-in-residence for five programs, presented to hundreds of entrepreneurs and mentored more than 100 businesses. He teaches across a wide range of specialities, from idea generation, through software development and business models, to pitch coaching.

Key to his focus is an understanding that many people have a vision of the future but few have the capability, techniques, or confidence to build it. Peter is committed to helping people and teams gain these skills.
